"I cannot express the importance of recruiting new
referees for the upcoming season. Last year we were short and from
graduating players, we lost certified referees. We need to have
new participants in order to make this season a success. Remember that
we all volunteer and without devotion of our time, our children will be the
ones to suffer. Be advised that I will not be able to schedule
referees to all of our games if our number of referees does not increase.

| YOUTH REFEREES |
| This Region is looking for youth referees who are
dedicated, responsible and understand the AYSO Philosophy. Youth referees
must be at least 12 years old and will need to attend both a "Safe Haven"
class as well as a "Regional Referee Clinic." We hope to see some more
youths at these clinics! Also, please remember that the volunteer hours that
you complete with AYSO can be utilized to fulfill required volunteer hours
required by some of the communities schools. Please contact a board member
and they will fill out an "Approval Letter for Volunteer Hours" which may be
submitted to the volunteer's school to verify completed volunteer hours. |

Youth Referees
This was the second year that our youth
referees played an important part in helping this region keep referees
on the fields. The youth referees consisted of half our pool of referees
and without them, this region would have been in dire straights keeping
referees on the fields. Please make certain after every game that
everyone thank all of our referees for the job they are doing. |
